Dear John:

Today, the Electoral College will formally elect Joe Biden as the next president of the United States, despite the desperate and unAmerican attempts of Trump and his GOP enablers to throw out millions of votes and keep Trump in the White House for four more years.

I am profoundly saddened and disturbed by Trump’s attempted coup, its accompanying disinformation campaign, and the damage it has done to American democracy. It was a long time in the making... and it’s far from over!

Over this year, CMD has been hard at work exposing the well-orchestrated efforts of right-wing groups and media outlets -- bankrolled by the Kochs, Mercers, Uihleins, and other corporate magnates -- to suppress the vote, promote myths of rampant voter fraud, and then discredit the election with a “Stop the Steal” social media campaign and protests. 

And just this past week, CMD has revealed how the Koch-funded American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and the radical-Right Council for National Policy are waging a campaign to challenge Biden’s election in Congress when it convenes on January 6 to certify the Electoral College results.

Their efforts will fail, but the attacks on voter suppression and our democracy are not going to stop!

Which is why we will be here—day after day—to shine a light on the continued and pernicious threats to our democracy in 2021. But we need your help!
