John,
Thanks to your support, the UNITE HERE Education and Support Fund has distributed $2 million in direct relief, helping more than 40,000 workers pay bills and put food on their tables.
Can you donate today to help us continue to feed working families?
Unfortunately, about 75% of UNITE HERE members are still laid off nine months into the pandemic. While some parts of our economy may be re-opening, the hospitality industry remains largely shuttered. And now the Pandemic Unemployment Insurance payments that have helped millions of families survive are set to run out at the end of December.
Will you help workers feed their families in the weeks ahead?
“In mid-May, my 19-year-old sister in Haiti lost her life to COVID-19. I was devasted by her death and the realization that I couldn’t help my mother pay for funeral costs. Despite my struggles, I've helped my coworkers and neighbors apply for unemployment and did voter turnout here in Florida during the presidential election. I’m grateful to our local union for hosting weekly food distribution events. I find hope in our union family and the knowledge that there are always people willing to help others in this country."--Gerard Jhorjhi Jean Baptiste, Room Service Attendant, Disney Springs Hilton, Orlando, FL, UNITE HERE Local 737 leader & fund recipient
During the pandemic, food assistance has been workers’ most common need. Thanks to previous contributions, the UNITE HERE Education and Support Fund has extended a lifeline to working families like Gerard’s, but we need your help to sustain our regular food distribution.
Please donate today to the UNITE HERE Education and Support Fund—your contribution will go directly to helping working families in need.
Sincerely,
D. Taylor, International President, UNITE HERE
