. Our reporters are digging deep on urgent issues and your gift will help fund investigations on immigration, healthcare, the Trump Organization and more.
Investigative journalism is a luxury in many newsrooms — deep-dive reporting is risky and expensive. It can take reporters a long time to sift through thousands of public documents, doggedly track down leads, file requests under Freedom of Information laws, and unpack complex issues. It’s no surprise, then, that many newsrooms simply can’t afford to take on this kind of journalism anymore.
But you and I both know: investigative journalism is critical to justice, transparency and democracy. ProPublica’s purpose is to shine a light on abuses of power and corruption. We believe the public deserves to know the truth, no matter how long it takes, how much it costs, or who it irritates.
ProPublica relies on donors like you to support our team of investigative journalists

. I’m asking you today to show your support for deeply-researched, fact-based reporting by making a donation to ProPublica during our fall member drive. Our readers are the reason why we are able to afford this necessary and urgent work, and your support today will help us carry forward.
Thanks so much,
Jill Shepherd
