Dear John, We're about a month away from TIES and we couldn't be more excited! If you haven't already, be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the University of Richmond (28 Westhampton Way, Richmond, VA 23173)
In addition to the 40 workshops available at TIES, we also offer several important community resources. You can receive free legal support at the Name and Gender Marker Change Clinic, and at the Wellness Center, you can schedule a free medical or mental health consultation with a trans-friendly service provider to address any questions and find resources. For the first time ever, TIES will also have a clothing swap where you can find gender-affirming clothing and drop off lightly-used clothes you no longer wear. This is a great opportunity to chat with trans-friendly mental health and medical providers and ask questions, identify resources, and discuss general next steps to getting your healthcare needs met. Please note that healthcare providers cannot offer any diagnoses or write letters related to transition the day of TIES, but they may be able to help you identify someone who can in your local area. Click here to reserve an appointment with a mental health and/or medical provider. Law students and attorney volunteers will assist you in completing the requisite applications and navigating the process of obtaining a name and/or gender marker change. To sign up for an appointment at the legal clinic, click here for the registration page in English, or click here for the registration page in Spanish (en español).
If you would like to learn more, visit our TIES page where we will be posting updates on programming, scheduling, and more. We look forward to seeing you next month! Yours for equality, Vee Lamneck Deputy Director
