Green Party of Canada

Hello Friend,

It was always a bad idea. Now the Trudeau government’s decision to spend $4.5 billion on the Trans Mountain pipeline (TMX) looks even worse.

The case against pipelines based on science, the climate emergency, the knowledge of Land Protectors and our need to halt global warming is damning. (And that's before adding in the case against pipelines based on human rights and Indigenous sovereignty!)

Now the flimsy economic case for the pipeline has collapsed too. Just this week, the Parliamentary Budget Office published a report stating Canada will lose money on the TMX project if the government also takes real action on the climate crisis.

Stand with Greens across Canada in demanding an end to the disastrous TMX project. Send a letter to Natural Resources Minister Seamus O’Regan today to remind him that the billions this project is costing would be better spent on renewable energy projects creating thousands of green jobs.

We protest!

We know pipelines compromise and endanger the land they’re built on. They’re a relic of a dying industry, perpetuating our dependence on fossil fuels when we should be seizing the economic opportunities of a green economy and a just transition for workers.

Many of you have already spoken out against TMX over the years. It violates Indigenous rights, threatens local ecosystems, it’s a climate disaster – and it’s a terrible investment (as we’ve always said and the PBO now confirms). We must continue speaking out now!

Send a letter!

In solidarity and action,

Green Party of Canada
