The Pathways Project The Pathways Project - Winter Lodging for El Dorado County's Homeless residents December 9, 2020 Hello John, There's an urgent need on the Western Slope of El Dorado County for winter lodging for our homeless residents. The Pathways Project was established by Housing El Dorado to serve those in need of immediate shelter by providing winter lodging while connecting clients to supportive services and working with them toward permanent sustainable housing. Pathways will be providing winter lodging at Green Valley Church, in Placerville, seven days a week, along with a meal program at the Upper Room Dining Hall and other support services. We hope you will join these efforts, either as a volunteer or with a donation to make sure we raise funds to meet this urgent need. See below for more information and links. Wishing you, your family and friends a healthy and joyful holiday season, Frank Porter, El Dorado County Democratic Party Maureen Dion-Perry, El Dorado Progressives Jamie Beutler, El Dorado County Democratic Party Tamara Janies, El Dorado Mobile Homeowners Association Art Edwards, Hangtown Haven Peg and Don Vanderkar, Nomadic Shelter Ministries Donate Here - The Pathways Project Winter Lodging for El Dorado County's Homeless Residents The holiday season conjures up images of comfort foods, family, warmth, and love but this is not the case for everyone. This year is a year of great need for many and this is especially true for the homeless population. Holiday traditions can be passed down from generation to generation, and we would love to challenge folks to start a new tradition by donating to the Pathways Project. Your donation will provide warmth and comfort. Just imagine the feeling of providing lodging for another human being! Ordinary people, given the opportunity, can do extraordinary things. Won’t you take this opportunity to be extraordinary and show the next generation the gift of giving? Volunteers & Staff Needed - Click HERE for more info. How Did The Pathways Project Come to Be? In 2019, the El Dorado County Democratic Party and El Dorado Progressives joined together to form the Western Slope Coalition on Affordable Housing and Homelessness (WSCAHH) to help address the needs of El Dorado County's homeless residents and the need for more affordable housing. Over the past 18 months, WSCAHH advocated for better and more effective solutions to addressing homelessness in El Dorado County while supporting and learning about the many non-profit and government agencies that have been working on this complex problem. From those efforts, Housing El Dorado (HED) has emerged, as a newly formed non-profit that has brought together the efforts of: Western Slope Coalition on Affordable Housing and Homelessness Hangtown Haven Nomadic Ministries Upper Room Dining Hall Together and with new support from the El Dorado Community Foundation, we've leveraged our collective efforts and launched Housing El Dorado (HED). Our first and most urgent project is The Pathways Project. We hope you will join these efforts, either as a volunteer or with a donation to make sure we raise the funds to meet this urgent need.
