In 2019, we were elected with a new mandate to keep Canada moving forward – and it’s been an honour to do my part as a Member of Parliament on this team in government. Canadians have faced a lot this year, and from the beginning, we’ve committed to doing everything it takes – for as long as it takes – to ensure that families, workers, small business owners, and vulnerable communities are safe and supported through this global crisis.
Even with so much having changed, we’ve also worked to keep moving forward on the important commitments we made in last year’s campaign.
We increased the Canada Child Benefit again to help families with children put nutritious food on the table and give their kids a real and fair chance at success. We introduced an immediate ban on assault-style weapons in Canada to help make our communities and our country safer. And we’re moving forward with our plan to commit Canada to net-zero emissions by 2050, ban harmful single-use plastics, and protect a clean environment for future generations.
