John, the 2020 election cycle was a great one for DFA and our candidates.

So we're spending the next few weeks highlighting the incredible stories that show why we do this work and your critical role in helping us carry out our mission.

Jessica BenhamJessica Benham

Prior to being elected as Pennsylvania State Representative, Jessica Benham was the Director of Development for the Pittsburgh Center for Autistic Advocacy (PCAA), a grassroots self-advocacy project run by Autistic people for Autistic people which she co-founded. Through her work at PCAA and elsewhere, Jessica has worked to ensure that individuals with disabilities are treated fairly in the legislative process and has upheld a commitment to cross-movement solidarity, firmly believing that marginalized people must work together to build power.

Jessica is the first LGBTQ+ woman and first autistic person elected to the Pennsylvania General Assembly. She is also one of the only autisitic state lawmakers in the United States.

DFA was proud to work to elect Jessica and help her a break glass ceiling for those with disabilities to follow in her footsteps.

DFA is already endorsing and working closely with candidates for elections up and down the ballot for the next cycle.

Help DFA support the next generation of candidates like Jessica and donate $21 or more today to help fund this work for 2021.
