John,

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made a habit of blaming the other side for the GOP’s failures -- and now he’s resorted to attacking the most powerful woman in the legislature to change the narrative on Congress’s failure to help working families during the pandemic.

According to McConnell, Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “all or nothing obstruction” is the reason Congress hasn’t passed a second stimulus bill since the start of the pandemic. But let’s look at the facts.

Under Pelosi’s leadership, the House has passed two different expansive stimulus packages. The latest, a $2.2 trillion package agreed to by the Trump administration, covers a second round of stimulus checks as well as billions in funding for states and local governments. But McConnell has blocked these efforts for being “too generous” in his eyes.

We won’t follow the GOP’s blame game. There’s a reason Speaker Pelosi refers to McConnell as the “grim reaper” of legislation, and if he keeps control of the Senate, we expect him to continue blocking progress at every turn. McConnell might think he’s untouchable so long as Americans keep the blame on someone else, whether Trump or Pelosi -- but today we need to know if you’ll remind him who he answers to:
