In another departing gift to people and the environment, Trump’s EPA plans to approve the continued use of paraquat -- the deadliest herbicide used in the country. Take action to stop the use of this toxic chemical.
Paraquat is so toxic that it has already been banned in countries throughout the world -- including the European Union, China and Brazil. But Trump’s EPA is prioritizing pesticide industry profits over public health and the planet.

Just one small sip of paraquat can kill -- and there is no antidote. Chronic exposure to paraquat more than doubles the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. Plus, it has been linked to kidney, organ and heart failure, and cancer.
The use of paraquat continues to rise in agriculture. In fact, it has increased in use by 84 percent in the past decade. Farmworkers are exposed continually to this toxic pesticide -- increasing their risk of serious health consequences.
The EPA itself found that there were severe risks to famers and farmworkers who are exposed to high levels of paraquat on the job -- but the agency continues to approve its use. We need your help, John, to block the use of paraquat immediately.

Beyond its direct poisoning of people, paraquat also lingers in the environment. It has detrimental impacts on soil, water and wildlife. Studies show that large fish, amphibians and rabbits have died after exposure to paraquat.
The rampant overuse of toxic pesticides is devastating biodiversity and wildlife. It is contaminating our food, poisoning farmworkers, driving pollinator decline and polluting our environment. But Trump is determined to push through as many toxic pesticides as possible to keep his polluter cronies’ pockets lined.
