We look forward to the promise of a U.S. domestic and foreign policy agenda put forth by the Biden administration. This is an incredible opportunity to not just protect, but advance reproductive rights as human rights around the world.
But we cannot ignore the enduring damage of President Trump and his actions attacking reproductive autonomy and reproductive health access. We're still actively litigating five cases challenging dangerous policies implemented by his administration that threaten reproductive rights. A little over one-fourth of all judges on the federal bench were appointed by President Trump during his term in office, including three of the nine members of the U.S. Supreme Court.
None of that will disappear on Inauguration Day.

The Center has a proven track record of winning cases before both Republican- and Democratic-appointed judges. We'll continue to fight in the federal courts where it is necessary and strategic to do so and in the state courts where we see new opportunities. But there's no doubt that we'll continue to face a tough federal judicial landscape long after President Trump leaves office.
We'll need to work with the incoming Biden-Harris administration to swiftly undo the damage of policies like the Domestic Gag Rule, which strips federal funding from abortion providers and creates new barriers for patients seeking access to birth control and other sexual and reproductive health services. We'll work in coalition to reverse the Trump administration’s rule gutting the Affordable Care Act's (ACA's) contraception guarantee and to restore its protections against discrimination. We'll advocate with members of Congress to address the shameful maternal health crisis in this country. And, we'll work to repeal the Helms Amendment and Global Gag Rule, two U.S. policies that have restricted access to vital, life-saving reproductive health services around the globe.
