Dear John,
Nasrin Sotoudeh is in grave and immediate danger. Her life may hang in the balance.
Nasrin, an Iranian human rights lawyer and mother of two, was serving a cruel and unjust sentence of 148 lashes and 38 years simply for defending women’s rights.
On November 7th, after relentless campaigning on behalf of Amnesty activists, she was temporarily released from prison. But days ago, she was ordered back to Iran’s infamous Shahr-e Ray “Gharchak” prison — even though she still has COVID-19.
We’re putting all of our energy and expertise to work to bring Nasrin home once and for all — and we need to expand our critical efforts demanding her release. Please make an emergency donation to support our advocacy that could save her life.
You may remember that Nasrin was targeted in the past — her case was extremely high-profile. When Amnesty supporters worked together back in 2013, we were able to secure her early release from prison. Then again, we helped to secure her temporary release in November. And now, John, with your support, we can do it again — once and for all.
Amnesty International has delivered over a million signatures to Iranian embassies around the world. Each signature, demanding Nasrin’s immediate and unconditional release, represents someone who is outraged by her cruel sentence and is willing to demand her freedom — someone like you.
Nasrin’s sentence is the harshest sentence recorded against a human rights defender in Iran in recent years. And serving it out — in unsafe and unsanitary conditions — could put her life in jeopardy.
Be one of Amnesty’s most important donors this month — and match Nasrin’s courage with your generosity »
Thank you for helping our efforts to bring Nasrin home — to her husband, to her two children and to her important work as a human rights lawyer.
