An Update on the COVID-19 Vaccine and Small Business Relief
COVID-19 Vaccine:
This week, the FDA approved Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, and we expect to receive 39,000 doses of the vaccine during the first week of distribution. An additional 40,000 doses are expected in the following week. The state expects to receive more doses weekly once more COVID-19 vaccine candidates are approved.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, the first shipments of the COVID-19 vaccine will go to 125,000-135,000 frontline healthcare personnel, and 75,000-85,000 nursing home and long-term care facility residents and staff. As my office gets more information regarding COVID-19 vaccine distribution in Louisiana, we will continue to share the important details about what you can expect.
Check out this information from Operation Warp Speed on how they are planning to execute the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process.
Fighting to Extend PPP Relief:
House Democrats left town again after refusing to release Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding for American small businesses. $138 billion has sat unused since August because Speaker Pelosi admittedly sees it as political leverage.
Our small businesses and the jobs they support don't have a second to spare when bipartisan PPP relief could be immediately available. Speaker Pelosi’s political games must end, and I will continue calling on her to extend PPP relief until our small businesses get the help they need.

Passing the ALS Disability Insurance Access Act
This week, the House passed the ALS Disability Insurance Access Act. It has already passed the Senate and now heads to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law. This bill ends the current five-month waiting period for people with ALS to access Social Security Disability Insurance benefits.
It was an honor to work closely with the ALS community, including my friend Steve Gleason, and my colleagues in the House to pass this legislation. Nobody battling ALS should have to wait for benefits that can help them live their lives to the fullest. Click here to watch my Floor speech on the ALS Disability Insurance Access Act.
