Cannabis, Cats, and Ceiling Fans
Friend,

This week, Congress left town again without passing any form of Coronavirus relief. It's a disgrace. But what's more shameful is that instead of even voting on assistance, Speaker Pelosi brought to the floor a bill that would improve...ceiling fans. That's right, ceiling fans.

In fact, instead of voting on commonsense relief measures, Speaker Pelosi has recently had the House vote on everything from legalizing marijuana to protecting big cats (yes, like Tiger King). It's insane, mostly because getting relief to the American people shouldn't have to be that hard.

For example, while we continue to negotiate a broader relief package, we could immediately reauthorize the overwhelmingly bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program and give small businesses access to more than $135 billion in assistance. I helped introduce a bill that would do just that, and joined nearly 200 of my colleagues in trying to force a vote on the proposal. Speaker Pelosi won't budge, but we'll keep fighting to get this done.

I can't believe I have to say this, but we simply cannot put cannabis, cats, and ceiling fans over the American people. That's why I've not only fought for Congress to immediately reauthorize the PPP, but also called on Congressional leadership to guarantee a vote on Coronavirus relief before it takes another vacation.

The American people need relief now, and it's time for Congress to actually do its job.
