"He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety. He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success. So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts her mouth."
- Job 5:11-12, 16
Africa & Europe
- Pray for ongoing awareness campaigns on violence against women and children in Uganda, that they would help women and girls clearly understand their right to protection. Pray as well for communities to come alongside survivors to support them as they recover.
Latin America
- Praise God for opportunities to elevate the issue of declaring child marriage unconstitutional in the Dominican Republic on

international media outlets (see our HQ prayer request below for the link to another article). Please pray that as this issue gains momentum, legislators from the Constitutional Court would read these articles and be moved to rule with justice and protect children from ever experiencing this type of violence.
South Asia
- Praise God for several rescue operations this past week that brought freedom to 49 people! This included 31 people rescued from a paper mill, 17 people from a coir factory and one 15-year-old girl rescued from sex trafficking. All of these cases were made possible through local, grassroots partners who support IJM and know their communities well. Please pray for follow-up on these cases as we help survivors move into safe housing and work with police on follow-up arrests for the traffickers who exploited them.
Southeast Asia
- Please pray that God will continue to lead us to new cases and rescues for those trapped in forced labor slavery in the Thai fishing and seafood industry. Even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, fishing in Thai waters is legally continuing. The fishermen face increased risk not only from COVID-19, but also from non-payment of wages and forced labor as global demand for seafood dropped and local fishing businesses faced impacts to their income.

- Praise God for Major League Baseball player Clayton Kershaw and his wife Ellen who have

authored an op-ed to encourage the Dominican Republic to declare child marriage unconstitutional. Because of the Kershaw's involvement in the piece, CNN ran the op-ed in English and Spanish on Human Rights Day this past Thursday, the same day the op-ed highlighted in our Latin America prayer request above ran in Thomson Reuters Foundation News. Pray that this high-profile attention will open doors for us and continue to push the needle forward in protecting girls in the DR.
