The holidays create a special need

Dear Friends,
Because of your support of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, I am sending you a very short video clip.
It is only 75 seconds.
And it’s from a donor Drew Horowitz, a long-time addiction and mental health specialist and certified intervention professional.
Listen and learn why Drew chooses to support our mission: [link removed]

Drew states:
“As a person who works in this line of work…I get to see a lot of other programs and professionals. And one that is very clear at the end of the day is that Hazelden Betty Ford is recognized as the gold standard.”

During these devastating days of the coronavirus pandemic, many women are in need of our gold standard treatment as they struggle with alcohol and substance use. While alcohol use is up 14% among the general population, heavy drinking among women has increased by 41%.

According to Hazelden Betty Ford’s chief medical officer Dr. Marv Seppala:
“For women, binge drinking remains a troubling issue. A lot of women are carrying a heavy burden during COVID-19.
“They’re juggling working from home, virtual schooling, and taking care of children. A glass of wine or two is seen as a socially acceptable coping tool. All too often though, a glass or two turns into three, four or five glasses.”

Your generosity represents a powerful opportunity to provide much-needed support to women of all ages this holiday season.
And now, a special donor has stepped up to create a $250,000 Women’s Patient Aid Matching Gift Challenge this holiday season. That means your support today will be doubled dollar for dollar!
$500 will become $1,000
$400 will become $800
$200 will become $400
And your $100 will become $200

Whatever amount you choose to give—I thank you in advance, and wish you all the best for the holidays and for the New Year.

Sincerely,
Moira A. McGinley
Vice President & Chief Development Officer
Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation

P.S. Remember, your gift will be doubled!
That’s because of an alumnus and supporter who has provided $250,000 to create Women’s Patient Aid Matching Gift Challenge! I urge you to take advantage of it.
