The death penalty is a cruel and unjust practice that has no place in our society. Last night at 9:27 pm, Brandon Bernard was executed by the United States Government after being sentenced as a teenager.
Brandon’s execution was horrific, and it will leave a stain on the moral fabric of our country.
The Trump administration has planned four more federal executions before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris assume the office. We cannot allow this draconian practice to continue — we must abolish the death penalty once and for all.
State-sanctioned murder is not justice and it never will be. The death penalty is a devastating tool of oppression and it has no place in our society.
It is Congress’ responsibility to act as the moral conscience of our country and listen to the majority of Americans who are demanding an end to this cruelty. I need you to make your voice heard, because we need every member of Congress to support my resolution to end the death penalty.
Together we will make sure that no more Americans are condemned to death at the hands of our criminal injustice system. Thank you for making your voice heard with me today.
