John, you may
have heard that a new bipartisan COVID-19 stimulus bill is in the works—a
$900 billion package to support small businesses, hospitals, essential
workers, and those who have become unemployed due to the pandemic.

While there's still so much more to push for, both Democrats and
Republicans have come together to compromise on this package. So, why
hasn't it passed?

Mitch McConnell.

McConnell is unwilling to bring this bill to the floor unless it stops any
COVID-related lawsuits filed that "allege injury or death" due to
corporate negligence.

In other words, he's holding up desperately-needed relief for the American
people in order to protect big corporations that dangerously put profit
over the safety of their employees' lives.

[ [link removed] ]To put it plainly, this is corruption. And I'm speaking out on this.
John, join me in
demanding that our elected officials put the needs of the American people
first—not big corporations.

Look, it's not unreasonable to think that corporations should have to
follow safety precautions and be held liable when they disregard the lives
of their customers, patients, and workers. That's basic human decency.

Yet McConnell is still making up imaginary issues with these lawsuits in
the name of corporate interests. This is not what the American people need
from their elected officials. Not now, not ever.

The need for help is dire. Families are facing unemployment, sickness,
hunger, eviction. It's been months since the government last passed any
relief. We can't afford to stall more due to the corrupt relationship
between government leaders and their corporate supporters.

[ [link removed] ]Please sign on and join me in speaking out: Congress must meet the
severity of this crisis and prioritize the needs of the people, not
corporations.

Thank you,

Katie
