Orange County Republicans -

Last weekend, Governor Newsom ordered Orange County into yet another shutdown. While our ICU and hospital availability is stable, the other counties grouped into the "Southern California" region are struggling to maintain their capacities, dragging Orange County into the shutdown.

Since March, Orange County Republicans have been fighting back against the Governor's orders.

Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes immediately responded by releasing a statement that the Orange County Sheriff's Department will not be enforcing the Governor's orders. "Compliance with health orders is a matter of personal responsibility and not a matter of law enforcement. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies will not be dispatched to, or respond to, calls for service to enforce compliance with face coverings, social gatherings, or stay-at-home orders only.  Deputies will respond to calls for potential criminal behavior and for the protection of life and property.  Our actions will remain consistent with all constitutional rights. Conversely, policy makers must not penalize residents for earning a livelihood, safeguarding their mental health, or enjoying freedoms."

We applaud Sheriff Barnes for his commitment to protecting Orange County residents and our constitutional rights. You can read Sheriff Barnes' full statement
HERE.

Orange County Supervisors Don Wagner and Lisa Bartlett introduced a resolution at Tuesday's Orange County Board of Supervisors' meeting to demand local control. This resolution passed unanimously with support from our Republican Supervisors Andrew Do and Michelle Steel. Click HERE for the full resolution.

We support the Orange County Board of Supervisors' actions to fight back against Governor Newsom and reclaim local control. Our Board of Supervisors is better positioned to manage our local response than Sacramento's one size fits all failed response.

Thank you to all those who signed our petition to oppose Governor Newsom's latest shutdown orders. These petitions allow us to communicate your support to our Republican elected officials and help fuel their efforts to fight back against Governor Newsom.
