Hi, John
With Monday's Electoral College deadline approaching, and the president and 17 states' attorneys general calling on the Supreme Court to intervene in the presidential election, we're vigilantly monitoring attempts to challenge the will of voters and the validity of our elections.
We've seen one election challenge after another fail. Our historic Count Every Vote campaign and National Council on Election Integrity are succeeding in upholding the validity of the 2020 election and encouraging the peaceful transfer of power <[link removed]>. As we continue to cross each hurdle, I'm proud of the incredible work done by Issue One’s team and our allies, and deeply grateful to you, our supporters, who make this possible.
The challenges facing our democracy are daunting — but inaction isn’t an option. We need you to join us again, in 2021, to create a new democracy that represents and serves all Americans. <[link removed]>
In just two years, look at what we’ve accomplished together:
* 4 major reforms enacted that protect U.S. elections, increase campaign finance transparency, and improve Congressional functioning.
* 8 bills introduced to close money-in-politics loopholes, stop the use of leadership PACs as personal slush funds, improve campaign finance law enforcement, and counter the corrosive influences of disinformation, dark money, and foreign influence on our political system.
* 97 recommendations passed to improve the way Congress works by the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress.
* $ 825 million in federal funding appropriated to protect U.S. elections from foreign interference and adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.
* 250+ national leaders (half Republican, half Democratic) united to advocate for good government reforms through our National Council on Election Integrity and the ReFormers Caucus.
* Over 100 million Americans reached in key states to counter disinformation around mail-in voting and to protect the integrity of our elections through the Count Every Vote campaign.
* And last but not least, with our allies, we ensured a fair and secure election, with the highest voter turnout in a century!
Each of these victories was advanced with both Republican and Democratic support. That means our progress is protected and can be built upon no matter which party holds power in Washington.
Issue One’s successes (big and small) prove that — no matter how great the challenges of hyper-partisanship, a gridlocked Congress, the cancer of authoritarianism, or national health and economic crises — “a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”
With your help, we’re doing just that.
Help us continue to prove that American democracy belongs to the people. Please give generously today to Issue One <[link removed]>, and help create a new democracy that represents and serves all Americans.
Thank you.
All the best,
Nick Penniman
