My mind is still REELING. Exactly one week ago, a federal court ordered the US Government to reinstate the DACA program in full — this means that applications are open again for the first time in 3 years since the Trump Administration’s unlawful shutdown of the program!
Friend, I can’t tell you what hearing this news meant to me as a DACA recipient. I was studying for my finals when I got the notification on my phone but I couldn’t believe my eyes until my friends and loved ones started to text me asking if it was true.
Right now, hundreds of thousands of DACA-eligible immigrants are gathering documentation, attending informational events, and finding up the necessary funds — $495 per person! — to submit their DACA application. For many, this is the one chance they have to be protected from deportation.
Earlier this year, we distributed what resources we had left in our DACA Application Fund, bringing the balance of financial support we could offer to undocumented immigrants in need to $0. Since last Friday, our DACA Application Fund waitlist is growing every day, and we need your help in replenishing the funds.
Friend, will you make a donation of any amount to the DACA Application Fund right now? Every dollar contributed to the DACA Application Fund will be distributed to one of the hundreds of undocumented immigrants who are in need of financial assistance in order to apply for DACA protections. We’re setting an ambitious goal of $100,000 raised to help 200 immigrants in need — can you help us reach this goal with a gift of any amount today?

I can’t lie... when I heard Monday’s news I was torn. I immediately had my DACA-eligible youth leaders at the top of my mind — folks who had been taking the lead and pushing for this very moment for years. I was so proud and happy for them, and for all of us. Then, I thought about my youth organizers who didn’t qualify, and it was a sobering reminder that our fight is not over.
DACA is the floor, not the ceiling. We won’t stop fighting until all of us are protected. Thanks for chipping into the DACA Application Fund to help cover the cost of 200 DACA applications for undocumented immigrants in financial need by raising $100,000 in grassroots donations. Any amount helps.

The work continues. Onward!
