Northumberland Paramedics recognizes fallen colleagues during service

Northumberland Paramedics recently recognized fellow Canadian first responders who were killed in the line of duty. Fallen civilian and military paramedics were honoured at a service hosted Dec. 2 by Northumberland Paramedics. The service kicked off a three-day tour through the county of the Paramedic Memorial Bell, which is a monument recognizing those who have died.

City budget includes new counselling supports for firefighters, paramedics amid pandemic

The city has announced, as part of its 2021 budget, counselling support for paramedics and firefighters in response to stress caused by the pandemic. United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg (UFFW) president Alex Forrest told the Winnipeg Sun on Thursday the money will help in a city where medical call volumes have reached 80,000 — more than Toronto.

A new Winnipeg testing site for first responders is collaborating with provincial scientists to gather data on the accuracy of a recently-approved rapid test for COVID-19. The Peel Paramedics Union, which represents 650 paramedics and logistics technicians in Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon, recently took to social media to raise concerns about patients being unloaded in full view of other patients and visitors in Trillium Health Partner’s (THP) two emergency departments.
