Grants update

COVID Business Grants for businesses affected by Tier 2, Tier 3 and national lockdown closures are currently being paid. To date, we have paid around 40% of over 2,500 applications with the rest being processed as quickly as possible. The vast majority of payments should be fully processed by Friday 18th December.

Due to the vast number of applications, the grant application form has been temporarily closed to allow the grants team to assess, process and pay grants to applicants to date. We've listened to your messages to us indicating some businesses had not applied and so there will be an opportunity for remaining applications to be submitted soon. We will alert businesses through all the usual communications channels.

*New Tier 3 grants*

The government announced grant support would be available for businesses who remain closed in December as Nottingham entered Tier 3 restrictions, and also announced an additional 1,000 grant for wet-led venues. These grants will be paid automatically to eligible businesses based on the information you have provided us with to date, so there is no need to reapply.

We are aware of scam emails and texts businesses are receiving indicating they are eligible for grants and support is at hand to access these funds.

We strongly recommends you or a trusted, established business partner complete the grant application forms to ensure you receive all of the grant you are eligible for. Fraudsters are exploiting the pandemic for their own benefit - please do not respond to unsolicited texts or emails offering help.

Councillor Webster: "Devolved support for businesses remains unfair on big cities"

Nottingham City Council is aware that other councils are paying different amounts to businesses based on the size, type and location of their businesses. This is due to the government's method of allocating funding to businesses based on geographical boundaries.

Council areas received grant amounts based on two factors: per head of population within the region.and per number of businesses within the region. Some areas received a larger allocation comparative to that which Nottingham City Council received - meaning less money to distribute to businesses when they need it most.
