Team --

Last week, I reached out about some ideas I have to help give back this holiday season -- a series of initiatives to help create smiles and make sure our friends and neighbors weather these difficult times.

I'm reaching out today about another opportunity for each of us to give back.

We're experiencing the highest levels of food insecurity in our nation's modern history, so what I want to do next is make sure people are nourished.

It's estimated that the number of people facing hunger in our country will rise from 35 million in 2019 to more than 50 million this year. The crisis is even worse for children -- with 1 in 4 are facing hunger now.

Many of those on the frontlines working at food banks have said they've never seen such a dire situation. It's far beyond anything we experienced during the Great Recession.

So today I want us to raise some money for Foodshare and Connecticut Food Bank. Let's do something to lift up those around us who are struggling. These two food banks serve people in every part of our state, and their teams are facing more demand this holiday season than ever before.

So if you can, please consider splitting a donation between Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare to help feed people this winter. A lot of folks are being forced to choose between critical needs like rent, food, and medicine, so your support today means someone else won't have to worry about where their next meal is coming from.

I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and making new memories and traditions during this holiday season. Stay tuned for more opportunities to give this season.

Every best wish,

Chris Murphy
