Pay Day

What to Know: A judge has halted a $2 million payout to the departing Lancaster ISD superintendent. ([link removed] )

The TPPF Take: It’s time to reform superintendent severance pay.

“Many of these sweetheart deals are negotiated behind closed doors and out of the public’s view,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “We shouldn’t let that happen, both because of the size of payouts involved and the importance of the superintendent position.”

'White Oil'

What to Know: Supposedly “clean” electric vehicles have a dirty secret, the Guardian reports—mining for lithium, known as “white oil.” ([link removed] )

The TPPF Take: So-called green energy relies on minerals such as lithium. When those are factored in, the energy is far less green.

“With its myopic focus on reducing carbon dioxide emissions at any cost, the green movement fails to consider the negative human and environmental impacts, especially the land and wildlife destruction, of ‘renewable’ energy,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac.

A New Political Landscape

What to Know: Political observers are still trying to make sense of the Nov. 3 election, in which the Republic Party made gains with women and minority voters. ([link removed] )

The TPPF Take: There’s a new working class coalition that is multi-racial, multi-ethnic and conservative.

“The new coalition rejects the premise of the New York Times’ 1619 Project, the grand critique of America, which says the U.S. is fundamentally racist and a real-life dystopia,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “They know better. It’s the country they or their parents or their grandparents came to, and in many cases, fled to. The America they experience is one of opportunity and freedom.”
