John,
2020 was a year that challenged all of us. As an organization founded on the principles of direct action, the COVID-19 pandemic was especially hard on our organizers who work tirelessly creating meaningful opportunities for people to engage in in-person activism. But they didn’t miss a beat, moving their work into the virtual space to continue Reproaction’s mission of increasing access to abortion and advancing reproductive justice.
Donate to help us continue.
Our talented organizers went above and beyond this year, creating impactful actions through unprecedented circumstances.
Here are some highlights from 2020 in their own words:
Caitlin Blunnie, Organizing Lead: This year has been challenging for all of us. We know that the need for abortion access doesn’t stop during a pandemic, which is why we spent this year educating our communities about self-managed abortion with pills. We are proud to have hosted over a dozen online training events this year and that continued our work building a movement of people who believe abortion pills should be available and accessible to all.
Nataley Neuman, Wisconsin Organizer: A highlight of my organizing work during 2020 would be using the new critically-acclaimed documentary Personhood: Policing Pregnant Women in America as a tool to educate Wisconsinites on and provide context to the enforcement of Wisconsin's "Unborn Child Protection Act (Act 292)" throughout the badger state. Another important highlight is my submission of a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) for copies of public records containing information on the number of cases of ‘unborn child abuse’ per county in Wisconsin for the past 3 years. That request yielded fascinating and important results, which will have a great impact on our organizing work around Act 292 in Wisconsin.
Evonnia Woods, Missouri Organizer: The pandemic issued uncertainty about how my work would proceed, but I transitioned into the digital space and rescheduled in-person events to take place online. My reach has extended beyond Missouri such that folks can access events from anywhere and learn about the work being done in Missouri. Participants and attendees who do similar work in different places are exchanging and sharing information and insights more easily than they were able to before.
I am so proud of the work accomplished and so excited to see their work in the future.
Please consider a donation to carry this incredible momentum into the new year and beyond.
Sincerely,
Pamela Merritt
