Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Week in Review
"For the week ending August 21, 2019"
On *Tuesday,*Ohio Governor Mike DeWine gave remarks during the Farm Science Review's 2019 Celebration Luncheon.The annual Farm Science Review, which is hosted by the Ohio State College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, attracts approximately 140,000 visitors from throughout the United States and Canada to learn about the latest in agricultural production.

On *Wednesday*, Governor DeWine joined Ohio Senate leaders in honoring the Dayton Police Department for their heroism and quick response during last month's Oregeon District shooting.

Also on *Wednesday*, Governor DeWine attended the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO). At the meeting, DeWine was given the Friend of Independent Higher Education Award for his longtime support of Ohio's institutions of higher education and their students.

Also on Wednesday, Lt. Governor Jon Husted convened the second meeting of the Governors Executive Workforce Board of the DeWine-Husted Administration. The focus of the meeting was on helping restored citizens find clear pathways to education and gainful employment following the end of their incarceration. The board heard examples from Ohio companies that are successfully integrating restored citizens into their workforce.

On *Thursday,*Governor DeWine attended the 74th Little Brown Jug at the Delaware County Fair. He also participated in the awards ceremony honoring this year's winner, Southwind Ozzi. The Little Brown Jug is one of the most coveted races for standardbred horses and is the final leg of the Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Pacers.

Also on *Thursday*, Lt. Governor Husted delivered remarks to the North American Strategy for Competitiveness (NASCO) Reunion event in Columbus. The Lt. Governor spoke about the role Ohio plays in the global economy, specifically in regards to innovation, workforce development, infrastructure, and supply chain management. The Lt. Governor used the opportunity to again call on Congress to debate and ratify the United State-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

On *Friday*, GovernorDeWine met with Premier of Ontario Doug Ford and Premier of Alberta Jason Kenney. Governor DeWine and Premier Ford and Kenney discussed Ohio's trade relationship with Ontario and Alberta, as Canada was Ohio's largest export market for Ohio products in 2018. In 2018, Ohio firms exported $21 billion worth of products to Canada, a 10.9 percent increase from 2017.
