Thank you to everyone who came to our Stop Socialism, Choose Freedom rally this week! We had great weather, great speakers and great patriots who travelled nationwide to not only celebrate ten years of tea party activism but also to send a message to Washington that America will NEVER be a socialist country; not on our watch!
Sen. Ted Cruz, Mark Levin, Sen. Mike Lee, Rep. Mo Brooks, Rep. Louie Gohmert, and many more spoke to patriots about the threats of socialism on the Hill, in other countries and in our own country. We have A LOT of work to do and, together, we can stop socialism in its tracks!
If you didn’t attend the rally, watch here.
This week, lawmakers met to discuss gun control legislation that would expand background checks and enact “red flag” laws. Tea Party Patriots held a press conference on Wednesday and several congressmen, Second Amendment supporters, gun violence survivors and family members of victims spoke in support of the Second Amendment and urged America to consider solutions that do not erode our Second Amendment rights. Watch the full press conference here.
That same day, Jenny Beth Martin met with some of the speakers at the press conference and held a panel discussion for effective gun violence solutions. All the panelists agree gun control would not solve our violence problem. Gun control only disarms law-abiding gun owners so that they won’t be able to defend themselves from criminals and the possibility of a potential tyrannical government. Check out the panelists’ solutions here.
You what drives us crazy? Trump supporters can’t openly support President Trump without being punished! A group of North Carolina cheerleaders were placed on probation by local education officials for posing with a “Trump 2020” banner. The students were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue and to show their patriotic pride at a football game. The photo of the cheerleaders was posted on social media and “caused people to feel uncomfortable.” Would the same standards be held if the cheerleaders were posing with an anti-Trump banner? Probably not. While one side acts with class and respects the right to free speech, the other acts with disrespect and would rather silence their opposition than accept that people share different political opinions and support different candidates/causes. Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman, Jenny Beth Martin, released the following statement regarding a link between the New York Times piece smearing Justice Kavanaugh and a larger attack on the judiciary. “When you take a step back you can see how this is all part of a coordinated, unprecedented attack on the independent judiciary.... On Wednesday evening, the Supreme Court handed the Trump Administration a major legal victory, giving the Administration permission to proceed with a new policy blocking asylum for migrants who pass through another country on their way to the United States. The court’s ruling, overturning a ruling from the 9th Circuit,... Leftist politicians are doing what they do best: bullying and threatening Republicans to give them what they want. Speaker Nancy Pelosi warned that if the Senate didn’t pass a universal background check bill, there would be “hell to pay.”...
