Hi, John!
My name is Rocio Preciado, and I am the Community Engagement Manager here at Immigrants Rising. Engaging our community has taken on a whole new meaning in 2020. We have needed to adapt to countless changes and unforeseen challenges. Through persistence, we have been able to turn the lockdown into an opportunity for us to reach more undocumented students and educators in and beyond the San Francisco Bay Area.
For the first time this year, our high school programming went statewide. We’ve been able to successfully place undocumented aspiring professionals in high schools and college access organizations across California. We've provided our participants this year with over 170 hours of career-specific hands-on training and mentoring, something very important for them to be able to launch their careers in education.
But don't just take it from me. Hear rom Khang, one of the participants in this year's High School Career Program:
"What’s kept me motivated this year is being able to continue helping other people and enjoy living a meaningful life. After the COVID-19 pandemic is over, I hope to open a tutoring center.”
I’m so proud to have been part of the Immigrants Rising team since I was an undocumented college student in 2013. After 7 years, I continue to be inspired by the way our program participants carry on our mission of empowering undocumented young people and supporting them in their educational and career goals. I’m particularly excited to see this year’s program participants advance in their journey to become educators and create a ripple effect to reach the next generation of immigrant student leaders!
Can you chip in $21 so that we can continue supporting undocumented young people in their educational and career goals in 2021? ([link removed])
Thanks for all you do!
Rocio
