Jessica Sun Li, the Illinois Youth Climate Strike Creative Director at Libertyville High School, wrote the following in an article in Wednesday’s Chicago Sun-Times:
“In Chicago, we’ll be striking for the Clean Energy Jobs Act (CEJA). Chicago has committed to 100% renewable electricity by 2035, an important first step, but we need to do more….The Clean Energy Jobs Act is by far the strongest bill on climate we’ve seen so far in Illinois, and it has the potential to drastically improve the path we are going down….Governor J.B. Pritzker has stated his commitment to renewable energy and we need to see him act. It’s critical that this bill passes as soon as possible. Every second we lose threatens our survival.”

You can take action to promote CEJA in several ways:
If you haven’t already, take a moment to sign the online petition in support of CEJA: https://act.sierraclub.org/actions/National?actionId=AR0143382. Share the link with your friends and family!
Call Governor Pritzker at 855-980-5638 and ask him to put CEJA at the top of his agenda for veto session. Tell him to do everything he can to ensure passage of CEJA this year.
Also, please call your legislators’ offices to tell them to support CEJA!

-State your name and say that you live in the district.

-If the legislator is not yet a co-sponsor, ask him or her to become a co-sponsor of the Clean Energy Jobs Act (SB2132/HB3624).
-If you want you can also say why you personally care about this issue and leave your phone or email for the legislator to send you a reply.
