Through the COVID-19 pandemic, we've lost our jobs, freedoms, education and even our loved ones. Recent news has brought some hope: pharmaceutical companies Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca announced the development of effective vaccines against COVID-19, and some could be approved soon. But the pandemic will only end when safe and effective vaccines and treatments are available to everyone on the planet - starting with those most at risk like healthcare workers and the elderly. It's an enormous challenge, but one we CAN achieve if we all work together. That's why the World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a global initiative urging governments and pharmaceutical companies to voluntarily pool their knowledge, intellectual property and data — so that the tools to end COVID-19 are in as many people's hands as possible. John, will you join us in calling for global pharmaceutical companies to share their life-saving knowledge?
It can take up to 7 years for a new vaccine to become available in low-income countries after it's available in wealthy countries. To defeat this virus, we can't rely on business as usual. Fair access to COVID-19 vaccines isn't just the right thing to do, it's the fastest way we can end the pandemic and all start to regain our lives. Take action now:
Thank you for taking action and stay safe, Brett Jacobson, Campaigns Team |
