Hello John,
Once my boots hit the soil, I have one mission alone—to uncover the truth of the cruel factory farming industry.
In our first investigation into Mexico's egg industry, I knew I had my work cut out for me.
As I walked into the first barn, all I could see was suffering. Cages were stacked on top of one another, just feet above mountains of maggots and filth. The other barns were also barely inhabitable. Feces covered the floors among piles of dead chickens throughout the barn. Thousands of hens cried out in distress.
All they wanted was to escape.
That's when I met Sandy.
She was crammed into a small wire cage.
This cramped cage imprisoned not only Sandy but three other helpless birds.
Sandy couldn't even spread her beautiful wings, perch at night, or forage for food. She could barely move. Her most basic desires were denied.
Before long, a deadly disease spread throughout the facility, killing more than 900 birds in one day.
These farms aren't like the ones you see in commercials. They are cold, harsh factories. Day after day Sandy and other hens just sit in their filthy, barren cages.
Chickens like Sandy count on advocates like us.
Truth is, my job isn't easy. I will never forget Sandy, stretching her neck through the bars as far as it would reach, wanting so badly to be on the other side of them.
But advocates like you make my job easier.
