This year, despite the profound crises our communities face, we have also seen the undeniable impact of community power. We banded together to provide mutual aid for our neighbors left out of federal support. We collectively took to the streets to make it clear that anti-Black racism along with systems of policing and detention will be dismantled. We stood up to defend immigrants with TPS and DACA and let Congress know we need permanent protections NOW!
But to win the change we need, we must build a movement that is bigger, broader, stronger, and more inclusive. So as a new year arrives with a new administration and a new Congress, we are not slowing down our fight for humane and just immigration policies. Instead, we’re doubling up.
That is why today, on International Human Rights Day, we announce the launch of Communities United for Status and Protection (CUSP).
CUSP is a collaborative of grassroots immigrant community organizations working together to win permanent status for our members and communities.
