John, did you catch Jahana on BET?
Jahana was part of a town hall on student loan debt and its disproportionate impact on African American students. Here’s the link to watch:
During the town hall, Jahana announced her next piece of legislation: The Pell Grant Restoration Act, which would restore Pell Grant eligibility for students who have been defrauded by a for-profit college.
Jahana was a Pell Grant recipient herself and understands just how important these grants are to students who are struggling to afford higher education.
Students who have used their Pell Grants to attend a for-profit institution should not be saddled with debt AND a degree that has no value as they now pursue an education at an accredited institution.
The impacts of this legislation would be real and immediate: In Connecticut, there are more than 1,000 students that could qualify for Pell Grant restoration.
Be sure to check out the town hall to learn more about this critical issue!
Thanks for watching,
