Yesterday I announced that I’m running to be the next Governor of Virginia and I wanted to tell you why.
When Virginians helped elect Joe Biden as our next President, we didn’t just fire Donald Trump, we fired Betsy DeVos, the worst Secretary of Education in our nation’s history.
It’s a huge step forward, but even after Trump and DeVos, we’ve still got a lot of work to do to repair Virginia’s broken education system.
Did you know Virginia is 50th out of 50 states in teacher pay compared to average pay? We’re dead last behind every state.
It’s wrong. It’s way past time to think big, be bold, and invest in our kids and our schools.
That’s why I’m proposing the largest investment in our students, schools and educators in Virginia’s history. As governor, I will dramatically raise teacher pay and address the racial disparities in our education system.
Our educators of Virginia are the lifeline for our children's future and deserve to be treated as such.

The link between education, jobs, and rising incomes is basic economics. If you don’t have access to good schools, quality educators, and a system that’s as diverse as our Commonwealth, you won’t get the education you need to succeed.
