Governor DeWine Appoints Murphy to Fill Hamilton County Murphy Court Vacancy

(CINCINNATI)?Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Elisa Murphy to serve as a judge on the Hamilton County?Municipal Court.

Murphy, of Cincinnati, will?assume office on September 23, 2019, and must run for election on November 5, 2019, for the remainder of the term ending January 2, 2024. Murphy is replacing Judge Fanon A. Rucker, who resigned.

Murphy received her bachelor?s degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and law degree from University of Akron School of Law.? Murphy currently serves as Magistrate for the Hamilton County Juvenile Court and as an adjunct professor teaching Business Ethics for Indiana Wesleyan University. She has previous experience as an attorney with the Hamilton County Public Defender's Office and in private practice focusing on criminal, family, and civil law. Murphy is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Ohio Association of Magistrates, and the Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati, where she is a life member.
