Many LGBTQI2S youth are struggling while at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, often facing quarantine with homophobic or transphobic family members. Although surrounded by people, LGBTQI2S youth can feel very isolated at home. Youth in our community are already at a higher risk for anxiety, depression and suicide. The pandemic stress, unaffirming family, bullying from peers, managing the changes in virtual or in-person learning, facing homelessness and hunger…it’s enough to make any young person feel lost and profoundly alone. | |
