Dear John,

It’s December. Our democracy appears to be holding, threatened but unbowed. We have vaccines in sight; there is light at the end of the COVID tunnel.

We’ve all had to come up with creative solutions to live our lives--like curbside pickup, and physically distanced hangouts. Can you imagine telling yourself in 2019 that you’d go to a protest only to stay in your car?

We are tired. We have canvassed, rallied, and quarantined. We have gotten really creative and adapted to our “new normal.”

Yet the climate crisis is rocketing along, with no time off for pandemics or elections. To us, the parallel between the pandemic and the climate crisis is clear: we need to get even more creative to achieve climate justice.

The mission here at Better Future Project is to re-envision our world so that we can successfully move to renewable energy and a regenerative economy. We’ve been laying the groundwork for years. Now we need your help <[link removed]> to make our vision a reality.

We need your financial support to grow our 350 Mass volunteer base, expand our nodes, and balance the various coalitions we are a part of. 350 Mass has been at the heart of the formation of the exciting Massachusetts Green New Deal table, which is up and running with participants from labor, environmental justice groups, youth and climate organizations. The Green New Deal is the type of innovative solution that will drive our regenerative and fossil fuel free future.

Our community resilience team, CREW (Communities Responding to Extreme Weather) needs funding to continue supporting the more than 40Resilience Hubs that pull communities together around extreme weather events.

And Divest Ed, now active on more than 50 campuses, is hiring “Disruption Organizers” to impede the efforts of climate-hostile corporations--banks, oil companies, insurance firms and law firms--to recruit new talent from campuses.

In short, we’re busy building the new world. The work is ongoing. We are asking you to join us for the long haul. We can’t continue this work without your support.

Please invest in our future by making a year-end gift to Better Future Project. <[link removed]>

Onwards,

Juliet Schor and Sue Donaldson
