With the mission to keep tabs on the state of education in the Pittsburgh region,  we are excited to soft launch of "By the Book: PGH K-12 Bulletins." In this new effort, education reporter TyLisa Johnson will keep you informed on significant reports, quick bulletin items and short excerpts from her interviews with experts and people who know what's happening in education locally. You may see some of these bulletin items developed into stories and projects. But since there are few things that are more important than educating our kids, and there is so much interest in local education coverage, we hope you will find value in it and help us make it dynamic, informative and engaging. Please send ideas to [email protected].

This week, Report for America announced that PublicSource has been selected as one of their 2020 host newsrooms. Report for America is a national service program that places journalists into local newsrooms to report on under-covered issues and communities. This RFA corps member will cover issues related to race and justice in Pittsburgh.

Report for America provides half of the salary of the chosen reporter, and PublicSource will be responsible for fundraising for the rest. If you’d like to help us get started early, you can click here to join the Pittsburgh community members supporting this important initiative.
