NAFCU,
member CUs meet with Senate Banking's Ranking Member Brown
Several
representatives from NAFCU-member credit unions Wednesday joined members of the
association's advocacy team for a videoconference meeting with Senate Banking
Committee Ranking Member Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio. The group thanked Brown for his
work with committee Chairman Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, on reforms to the Bank Secrecy
Act (BSA)/anti-money laundering (AML) regime, leading the way for its inclusion
in the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), and discussed a number of industry issues.

agendas, which feature several items that NAFCU has been advocating for, as well
as others that have already been introduced or included on previous rulemaking agendas.
House
passes bill to extend gov't funding to Dec. 18
The House Wednesday
passed a continuing resolution to extend federal government funding to Dec. 18.
Current funding is set to expire at midnight Friday; the Senate is expected to
approve the legislation before the deadline to avert a shutdown.

NAFCU
reiterates PPP concerns, recommendations ahead of hearing
Ahead of
today's Senate Small Business Committee hearing to examine the future of
the Small Business Administration's (SBA) paycheck protection program (PPP),
NAFCU's Brad Thaler reiterated the association's call for a simplified
loan forgiveness process for program loans under $150,000 and urged the committee
to work with fellow lawmakers to exclude Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)
advances from the PPP forgiveness calculation.

NCUA enhances fraud hotline
The NCUA Wednesday announced new enhancements to its Fraud Hotline, allowing tips
to be submitted electronically through the NCUA's website. The hotline allows
the public to report insider fraud concerns associated with credit union employees,
directors, or volunteers to the agency.
