John,
We can't emphasize this enough: the results of the Georgia Senate runoff are critical to making sure that everything we're working so hard for has a chance at becoming reality, from sorely needed COVID-19 relief to a Green New Deal.
And now that the voter registration window for the Georgia Senate runoff has closed, the real work of reaching out to voters begins.
We especially need to support the people in Georgia who are doing work with Black voters on the ground to try to win these races, as Black voters have always been the backbone of the Democratic party.
It was Black voters who delivered the state of Georgia for Joe Biden, and it's going to be Black voters who send Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff to Washington. That's why we're proud to support the Black Male Voter Project, Black Voters Matter Fund, and the Georgia NAACP who are doing the work to mobilize Black voters in Georgia right now.
In order to win these Senate seats, Georgia needs a record-shattering turnout of Black voters. But historically, Georgia has been the epicenter of the voter suppression battle: purging voter rolls, closing polling places, and making people stand in line to vote for hours upon hours at a time.
The Black community helped deliver President-elect Biden his victory — across the country, but particularly in Georgia. We need to make sure that voter suppression doesn't stop us from winning a Democratic Senate majority, because the results of these elections will determine which party holds control in the Senate.
If we can't get Democratic control of the Senate, Republicans and Mitch McConnell will remain in power and continue to curtail all attempts to make progress on the changes our country so desperately needs right now.
Let's do this,
Team Bowman
