Gov. Jared Polis, who is still in quarantine from COVID-19, is on Monday signing nine of the 10 bills passed by the General Assembly from last week's special session.
The General Assembly dealt with seven issues during its three-day session last week, all related to short-term COVID-19 relief for Coloradans. The bills provide funding for rental and other housing assistance, food pantry aid, direct aid to restaurants, bars, gyms, minority-owned businesses and arts organization and help with utility bills.

As we get ready for re-organization (elections for party leadership positions) early next year, this gives a high level overview on what these positions do. Join if you are interested in learning more about what the state, initiatives, county, multi-district officers do and if you are interested in getting a better sense of what the chairs, vice-chairs, secretaries and treasurers are expected to do. What are the requirements under law and rules? What are the other skills that are nice to have?
Dec. 10, 2020 (6:00pm): Training - How to Run a Re-Org (Re-Organization) FOR: County, Judicial District, Congressional District, House District, Senate District Officers, Initiative Officers & their trusted volunteers running Reorganizations in 2021. This is a training for everyone who will be running or helping to run a re-organization meeting.
Dec. 13, 2020 (3:00pm): Training - How to Run a Re-Org (Re-Organization) FOR: County, Judicial District, Congressional District, House District, Senate District Officers, Initiative Officers & their trusted volunteers running Reorganizations in 2021. This is a training for everyone who will be running or helping to run a re-organization meeting. This is the same training as Dec. 10 but we are offering two different dates and times so people can attend the one that works best for their schedule.
Feb. 1 - Feb. 15, 2021 -- Statutory Dates for Counties to hold Re-Organizations Once your county has decided when your re-organization will be held, click here and fill out the form so the state party is aware and can be helpful!

Volunteering for Democratic causes isn't the only way to help make a difference! Check out this way:
The Small Town Project is a non profit food pantry in Rocky Ford that serves 300-400 people per week in the Otero County area. This organization was started in 2019 and is currently run by Elaine and Duane Gurule. Elaine is the Chair of this organization and her husband Duane is the Executive Director. Together they have amassed a group of 100 volunteers over the past year. They currently have 25 active volunteers who help disburse food and other goods to those struggling in south eastern Colorado. They are on the brink of an expansion into the abutting building where they will expand the pantry all while turning the current location into a Job Training/ Co-Workspace area.
