Team, COVID-19 relief is on the verge of expiring—and everyday we don’t act puts Americans’ health and financial wellbeing at greater risk. If Congress doesn’t extend relief now, millions of families will struggle to meet their basic needs during a pandemic and brutal winter.

If you agree that passing relief legislation needs to be a top priority for Congress, let me know here:

In the next COVID-19 bill, I’m pushing for life-saving benefits for individuals and families—like hunger relief, unemployment insurance, school aid, and housing and student loan assistance. I’m also championing provisions to bolster our small businesses, like the RESTAURANTS Act, Save our Stages (aiding local live performance venues), and the Paycheck Protection Program.

Time is running out. I know that with such a divided Congress, we won’t be able to deliver the perfect package—but the American people need help today. Check out my note below, and if you’re with me, let me know by adding your name:

Subject: We need more aid now

Team—as I’ve learned in the Vermont Statehouse and Congress, we should always aim for a more ‘perfect’ bill to tackle an issue, but the lure of perfection should never derail the good we can do here and now.

As we head into a difficult winter, and the specter of COVID-19 relief expiring for millions of people at the end of the year, that lesson has never been more true. If we can’t unite to extend student loan relief, renter’s protections, unemployment benefits, small business aid, and funding to fight hunger, the suffering throughout the country will be even more brutal than it is now.

The American people need COVID-19 relief—now. And we need to get it out as soon as possible, even if we might lose some things on the bargaining table. If you agree with me that passing relief legislation as soon as possible should be a priority for Congress, add your name now:

It’s true that with a divided Congress, a version of relief we can all agree on may not provide everything we need. But at this point, time is running out and we need to deliver whatever aid we can now, even if it isn’t perfect.

Shutdowns are increasing and cases are rising exponentially. Every day we don’t act brings us closer to disaster. If we don’t act to ensure COVID-19 relief extends through the winter, millions of Americans will suffer and it will take President-elect Biden and Congress much longer to reverse the crisis we’re in.

If you agree that Congress should prioritize comprehensive aid to Americans as soon as possible, add your name:

Hang in there,
