The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans, along with Representatives Grace Meng, Judy Chu, Mark Takano, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and other members of Congress, are imploring President-elect Joe Biden to appoint AAPI officials to his Cabinet.
Biden has already picked a number of his Cabinet members, and while it’s looking like his administration will be significantly more diverse than it’s been in the past, we're still waiting for Biden to announce his first AAPI Cabinet official.
Judy Chu told NBC Asian America that failing to appoint any AAPI official to the Cabinet would send a “terrible message that being inclusive does not require including AAPIs.
“As a consequence, more AAPIs will feel excluded and invisible, and fewer will see a future for themselves in government.”
