The 2020 election is in the rear-view mirror, but it’s important that we
reflect on the results so that we know exactly what happened and where we need
to go in the future.
Arizona played a decisive role in this election for the White House, the
Senate and control over the U.S. House of Representatives.
From the results, it is clear that Arizonans want steady, bipartisan
leadership who will roll up their sleeves and work together to get things done.
There are too many important issues hanging in the balance to continue playing
partisan games. We need to focus on healthcare, the economy, cleaning up
Washington, combating climate change and supporting our tribal communities.
Arizona's first district, our home, was once again the closest in the state
this year -- within fewer than 12,000 votes and only 3% separating my
Republican opponent and me. We know winning here is critical to maintaining our
Democratic House majority.
So let’s remember that as we head into 2022, which is poised to be an even
more competitive cycle across the country. We need to be putting our time,
focus and energy into the races that will decide how much we can get done in
Washington.
