There's an unavoidable collision coming over Wisconsin's next state budget. The only way we'll get the budget voters want and the state sorely needs is for the governor to play hardball with the do-nothing legislature. We wrote to the governor today to suggest a way he can gain leverage in budget negotiations and overcome partisan gridlock to get progressive budget initiatives approved.

This will be one of the topics of our monthly state Zoom meeting next Tuesday evening. The main theme will be working for and winning in small town Wisconsin. The author of a recent article in POLITICO titled "Why Democrats Keep Losing Rural Counties Like Mine" will be one of our guests. So will the state manager of the Main Street Alliance, among others.
