Republicans are actively suppressing Virginia voters. Let’s stop them.

Hey Swing Left,

Here’s a not-so-fun fact: Virginia is one of the hardest states to vote in, second only to Mississippi.

That's due to its strict voter ID law and restrictions on early voting, among other rules that disproportionately affect low-income and African-American communities. And that’s exactly how Republicans want it.

On top of that, Virginia Republicans have purged hundreds of thousands of people from electoral rolls, many of whom are eligible to vote. That wasn’t a mistake; it was a calculated move to suppress voters.

We can’t let Republicans cheat their way to victory. Democrats are just 4 seats away from flipping the entire state legislature blue and ending these harmful practices. So, we’re writing 150,000 letters to Virginia voters to get them to the polls. Start writing letters today to help flip Virginia blue this November.

If you can’t be there to knock on doors, handwriting letters to Democratic-leaning voters in Virginia is the single most effective thing you can do right now to increase voter turnout.

We know 150,000 letters sounds ambitious, but we’re already 20% there. If every person reading this email writes 10 letters a week between now and October 27th, we’ll blow past our goal. That’s just 6 hours of your time over the next 6 weeks—and it could lead to 10 years of progressive progress.

So commit to writing letters, and help flip Virginia blue. It’s easy, and we’ll give you a step-by-step guide to get you started. Sign up to start writing letters today.

Virginia Republicans are limiting people’s rights. In 2018 alone, the House of Delegates blocked 12 bills that would have removed barriers to voting.

This November, let’s take away their power.

Thanks,

Ethan, Matt, Catherine, Michelle, and the Swing Left team
