Three New Plays, Three New Perspectives on Reproductive Justice.
The esteemed jury of A is For’s inaugural playwriting festival, led by two-time Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Lynn Nottage, has selected three outstanding new works by emerging playwrights from over 200 submissions.
We will be presenting our winning plays, each with its own live-streamed performance, directed by Claire Karpen, stage managed by Katherine Nelson, and stage directions read by Nan-Lynn Nelson.
3rd Place: Nia, Discovered by Cris Eli Blak — Saturday, 12/12 at 3pm EST
Cast: Mose Ingram (THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT), Jasminn Johnson (THE POLITICIAN), Harold Perrineau (CLAWS, OZ) and Trey Santiago-Hudson (NEW AMSTERDAM)
2nd Place: Chibok by Sabo Kpade — Saturday, 12/12 at 7pm EST
Cast: Michelle Hurd (STAR TREK: PICARD, BLINDSPOT) and Mirirai Sithole (RUSSIAN DOLL, BLACK MIRROR)
1st Place: Nurse Cadden by Kate Mickere — Sunday, 12/13 at 7pm EST
Cast: Celeste Den (LAW & ORDER TRUE CRIME, M. BUTTERFLY), Garret Dillahunt (FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, RAISING HOPE), Ann Dowd (THE HANDMAID'S TALE, COMPLIANCE), Alicia Goranson (THE CONNERS) and Jenn Lyon (CLAWS, THE COAST OF UTOPIA)
All ticket-buyers are invited to attend a post-performance talk-back after each play with the playwrights and the cast. Moderators include Owen Thompson and Lynn Nottage.
Tickets are $20 per performance or $50 for a festival pass.
