Team,
I’m so proud to announce that last week, my colleagues in the House and I passed the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act (MORE Act) which would decriminalize marijuana and cancel non-violent, federal marijuana-related convictions.
But in order for this bill to become law, it must pass the Senate. Mitch McConnell is too busy using the last days of the Trump administration to pack the courts with right-wing judges to pass this critical piece of legislation. Help me build momentum for this crucial piece of legislation by demanding the Senate pass the MORE Act NOW!
It's clear, this bill is a critical piece of the fight against systemic racism. The misguided war on drugs disproportionately harmed communities of color by slapping extreme sentences on low-level drug offenses -- leading to sky-high incarceration rates and painful family separation.
The MORE Act will serve to right past wrongs and create a new step forward in the right direction -- one where all communities have the opportunity to thrive and prosper.
But first, we must do everything in our power to make sure it passes in the Senate. Sign our petition now to demand the Senate act to decriminalize marijuana by passing the MORE Act NOW!
Thanks so much for standing with me and taking action,
Congressman Gerry Connolly
