We endorsed six candidates for New York City Council and their races are critical to ensuring LGBTQ representation remains on the city council next year. All five currently serving LGBTQ members have termed out and cannot seek reelection and we must ensure New York City has the LGBTQ representation it deserves.
And our candidates will make history! When they win, Marti Allen-Cummings will become the first nonbinary person and first drag artist to serve on the New York City Council, while Elisa Crespo will be be the first trans person of color elected in New York state! And Lynn Schulman will be the first out LGBTQ lesbian to serve since former Councilwoman Rosie Méndez left the council in 2017!
All of the above candidates can hold or maintain LGBTQ representation in their branch of government. And as we fight to undo the damage done by the Trump administration, we'll need LGBTQ voices at all levels of government. Donate today to help us make LGBTQ history again!
Thanks again for standing with us,
Sean Meloy
